Experience

After graduating from CSU Fullerton with a degree in English and a minor in Cultural Anthropology in 2015, I found my place teaching ESL to adults at a noncredit level. I love interacting with and forming relationships with my students, and spend almost as much time planning as I do teaching. In my job, I interact with students from all over the world, speaking languages such as Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and more. During Fall and Spring, I teach up to 20 hours a week. During Summer, I would love to tutor ESL students privately, allowing me to build closer personal relationships and impact students' language learning journey more effectively. In addition to my teaching background, I have five years of tutoring experience, three as a private K-12 tutor (2010-2015) and two at the community college level (Chaffey College, 2015-2017). Respect, patience, hard work, and humor, are the keys to my success as a teacher and tutor. Learning a language is an amazing, incredible, and difficult thing to do. I have the utmost respect for my students and their educational journey, and this gives me endless patience. I have also found that the best way to learn a language is through being truly interested and engaged in the materials. As your tutor, I would want to get to know you and your interests in order to create lessons and activities that truly engage you in learning.
