Experience
From 9/2012 to 5/2014, I helped nearly 200 writers and researchers clarify and express their ideas at Carnegie Mellon University’s Global Communication Center. Many of my clients were graduate students in STEM fields, and over half were non-native-English speakers. --Completed semester-long tutoring practicum focused on research-based techniques for successful writing instruction. From 9/2006-5/2009, I tutored students across disciplines at Drew University's writing center. I use your writing project as a tool to build your skills as a writer. To make the most of sessions, I ask you to submit projects ahead of time and send you away with a session recap and revision plan. The preparation helps me focus on areas that most obscure your ideas, and the recap focuses your continued revisions on those same areas. I have helped undergraduates as well as experts in their field strengthen their writing by learning and leveraging the genre expectations every writing project has, from engineering journal articles to PowerPoints. I particularly enjoy helping non-native English speakers understand the culture behind our language.
