I graduated cum laude in May 2015 with a B.S. in Biology with Research Certification and a B.A. in History from Gonzaga University. I speak Spanish and Italian, which I learned while pursuing a third degree in Spanish and a language intensive year-long study abroad experience in Italy.
Experience
I have tutored science, history, math, reading and writing for over 10 years. I have worked with students ages 10 to 22. At Gonzaga University, I was a member of a Science Outreach education team that taught 3rd, 5th, and 9th grade science activities, connecting science concepts to student life experience. While living in Florence, IT, I completed a 2nd grade teaching internship working with Italian students learning English as a second language. I have tutored biology, chemistry, history both as an employee and as a volunteer for Gonzaga University. I have taught math, biology, chemistry, history, reading and writing for 10 years as an independent tutor. I love learning, and approaching questions using several different techniques. I don't believe that there is only one way to learn, or one way to teach. My goal is to give students a safe zone in which they can express their ideas, ask questions freely, build academic confidence, and have fun learning. I specialize in teaching biology, chemistry, math (up to, and including, Calculus II), history & writing. References available upon request.
